Compose a research article outlining the Journal of American History submission process.

EACH student will submit a critical book review. This is NOT a group assignment. The book review will be graded according to the Gen Ed Rubric. Students will write a short essay (750 words) to critically review the book. This is a formal paper where students will summarize and critique the thesis of the text. The book review should be similar in style to book reviews found in scholarly journals such as the Journal of American History. Students are encouraged to browse samples of book reviews through the Sprague Library’s JSTOR database.

Be sure to put forth your best work because this assignment will be submitted to the EDFD department due to the Gen Ed requirement.

Each student must choose from one of the following books.

Noddings, Nel. (2005). The challenge to care in schools: an alternative approach to education. New York: Teachers College Press.

Splitter, L. J., & Sharp, A. M. (1995). Teaching for Better Thinking: The Classroom Community of Enquiry. Melbourne: Acer.

hooks, bell.(1994). Teaching to transgress: education as the practice of freedom. London: Routledge.

Palmer, P. J. (2017). The courage to teach (20th ed.). Jossey-Bass.

Freire, Paulo, (2000). Pedagogy of the oppressed. New York: Continuum.

Type all work in 12-point Times New Roman Font.
