Paragraph: Evaluation Assignment Overview
After writing the first draft, it is important to polish your writing through revising and editing. Your first draft should not be a perfect piece and there should always be changes made when preparing your final draft. When revising your writing, you want to rearrange and reorganize your sentences for better clarity and the best possible word choice. When editing, you are looking for changes that need to be made in capitalization, grammar, punctuation, and spelling. This assignment is to help you note the changes that your instructor mentioned as well as any changes you see.
Review and complete the Paragraph: Evaluation Template. You will also need your graded Paragraph: First Draft Assignment that your instructor returned to you. From the first draft, copy and paste the changes indicated by the instructor on the template. You will also want to record any changes you notice while editing and revising your first draft. You can review a video about completing the Paragraph: Evaluation Template in the Learn section of the following module: Week 7.
● All of the comments from your graded first draft assignment must be recorded on the template to receive full credit.
o The template can be filled out online by doing the following:
1. Download the template from the instructions in Canvas
2. Open the downloaded template by clicking on the arrow in the upper right corner of the Chrome browser
3. Fill out the blue sections
4. When done, click on the arrow to save “with your changes”
5. Upload the completed template to the Paragraph: Evaluation submission link
● REVISIONS:
o For example, if your instructor noted the absence of transitions indicating a new point, you would paste the comment under REVISIONS: Instructor’s Comments and indicate the transition you will use in your final draft under REVISIONS: My Corrections.
● EDITS:
o For example, if your instructor indicated that you needed to edit for punctuation due to a comma splice, you would paste the comment under EDITS: Instructor’s Comments and indicate the rule that commas separate two independent clauses when connected with a FANBOYS under EDITS: Rules.

o The use of contractions and “you” is not permitted in academic writing and if used, needs to be marked under EDITS on your chart.
o It is ok to use “I” in your assignment.
● In addition to what the instructor has noted, you will also want to note any revisions and/or edits that you notice.
● You will submit the completed Paragraph: Evaluation Template in the following module: Week 7.
