Compose a research paper outlining the meaning of the name “District of Columbia.”Post a thoughtful response to at least two (2) other colleagues’ initial postings. Responses to colleagues should be supportive and helpful (examples of an acceptable comment are: “This is interesting – in my practice, we treated or resolved (diagnosis or issue) with (x, y, z meds, theory, management principle) and according to the literature…” and add a supportive reference. Avoid comments such as “I agree” or “good comment.”
RESPOND TO THE TWO PEOPLE BELOW INCLUDING ONE CITATION EACH. NOT THE ONE PROVIDED. THE ONE I PROVIDED IS THE ONE EACH OF THEM HAVE USED FOR THEIR DISCUSSION. EACH RESPONSE ONLY NEEDS TO BE 100 WORDS. THANK YOU.
NUMBER ONE: According to Saint et al. (2016) conducted a quantitative analysis to identify methods for preventing catheter-associated urinary tract infections. The specific methodology is a cohort study for patients in acute care across 603 hospitals. The type of analysis performed and the techniques of data collection are used to identify the research as a cohort study. As stated in the article, data were collected from 926 units over the course of an 18-month study. It consisted of nine cohorts that began in March 2011.
The problem identified in the reproach is the increased prevalence of catheter-associated urinary infections among patients in acute care. The purpose of the research is to reduce the rates of catheter-associated UTIs in acute patients. The population sample was drawn from patients in acute care in 603 hospitals across 32 states, the District of Columbia, and Puerto Rico. The study hypothesizes that the program has significant success in reducing CAUTIs among patients in acute care.
The same research can be conducted using qualitative approaches to better understand medical practitioners’ perspectives on the program. The research would specifically focus on interviewing healthcare personnel in hospitals about the program’s performance levels and their feelings regarding its utilization. The responses of the respondents would be evaluated to detect patterns in attitudes and perceptions concerning the program’s utilization.
In conclusion, because of its high specificity, I prefer to conduct research using qualitative approaches. Qualitative research focuses on respondents’ specific perspectives and ideas, offering a comprehensive overview of the research issue. Moreover, it employs a smaller sample group while obtaining more information (Bulter et al., 2021).

NUMBER TWO: The purpose of this discussion is to find a research project that studies the effectiveness of alternative therapeutic interventions on chronically ill children in the hospital. This is a qualitative research study that makes very good points.
This was a qualitative research study. The study organized the children into individual therapy sessions and group therapy sessions. The children all had chronic diseases. This research was an example of an ethnographic model. According to Hannabuss (2023) ethnographic models can provide very rich data and can reveal facts about human behavior. This research project shows this type of model because it allows for children to react to a certain type of therapy, art and music in this case. The study that is being identified in this research project is efficiency of music, art and play therapy on hospitalized children. The purpose of this study is to see if these types of therapies allow for less emotional distress on children in the hospital. The population being studied were children with a chronic progressive disease who were either admitted to the Municipal Clinical Hospital in the oncology section of the Hospice Emanuel Foundation (Vaduva & Balla 2019). The questions this project brought up were what are the effectiveness of alternative therapeutic interventions on chronically ill children in the hospital. You may be able to explore this same topic using quantitative studies by grouping the children into ages, oncology patients all react to things differently which means the therapy could affect them differently. Younger patients may be more inclined to participate in art or music therapy while older kids might not want to. I like the idea of qualitative research better. For this type of research I would prefer to focus on the children as a whole, all having a chronic illness. It is much harder to separate them by age because it’s not fair to any of them to have to go through a disease process as horrible as these. According to Chrisman et al. (2014) the American Nurses Association states that nursing intervention should be practical, and decisions should be based on evidence based practice research studies.
