Describe how you developed the persona, starting with several candidates and winnowing it down to one, per the process described in the book.

Question 1
There is a spectrum of types of systems or products that can
be distinguished by ‘interaction complexity’ and ‘work domain complexity’. Describe four systems or products, one for
each of the following:
·
Low interaction complexity, Low work domain
complexity
·
Low interaction complexity, High work domain
complexity
·
High interaction complexity, Low work domain
complexity
·
High interaction complexity, High work domain
complexity
You may not use any system or product examples described in
the text book (Chapter 2) or in the lectures. Justify you answers. That is, for
each system or product, explain why it has low or high interaction complexity
and low or high work domain complexity. Be specific.
Question 2
Investigate the usage of a known system or Web site. Explore
its task structure. Piece together a diagram of a hierarchical task inventory
(HIT), as described in the text book (Chapter 6).
·
Selecting
a target system or Web site: You need a system or Web site with enough task
structure to make this work. It is best to select an application for which
there are at least a few different user work roles. You also need to select
something that is relatively familiar, so you don’t have to spend a lot of time
understanding the application.
·
Identifying
the task structure: One good way to deduce the task structure is to see how
it is reflected in the main menu hierarchy and all the user interface objects
that invoke various functionality. Each function in the functionality will
correspond to a part of a task or to one or more tasks.
Show your HTI diagram. You may not use any existing HTI
examples from the text book (Chapter 6) or the lectures.
Question 3
Create a persona to inform design. Select an interesting
product or system, existing or not. If existing, this is about a new design for
the existing system, including new ways of usage. If this does not yet exist,
this is part of a proposal for a new product or system and, therefore, a new
design. Pick you own idea to pursue. There are no limits, so be inventive. Be
specific when you complete the following:
·
Describe the product, system, or design idea for
which you developed the persona.
·
Describe the range of user characteristics you
expect to see for this target product.
·
Describe your design persona and the process you
used to establish it.
·
Describe how you developed the persona, starting
with several candidates and winnowing it down to one, per the process described
in the book.
You may not use any existing persona examples from the text
book (Chapter 7) or the lectures.
Question 4
Create a usability specification table (UX target table) to
evaluate the interaction part of any system or product.

Provide a brief
description of the system/product and a Web link (if applicable). You will need
to consider the following when constructing your table:
·
Work role and user class
·
Usability attributes (UX measures)
·
Measuring instrument
·
Value to be measured (UX metric)
·
Baseline level
·
Target level
·
Worst acceptable level
Your usability specification table should have at least 5
rows (not including the headers row).
