HR and managers should be concerned whether or not employees are engaged and are satisfied with their jobs as this helps promote motivation by employees. Employees who are motivated are more likely to stay focused, collaborate with other employees and overall support the mission, goals, vision, and objectives of the organization. An employee who is satisfied and happy with their work environment and culture can also assist the organization in recruiting and retaining employees.
If employees are concerned about certain organizational policies they can inquire for more information from fellow employees, managers, and HR. An organizational culture that is supportive of open communication and trust can assist employees who are concerned about polices by ensuring they understand their concerns and that their concerns will be answered. The answers should be based on the organizational policies and laws. If there is a policies this is confusing or is not all encompassing, this could lead to refining the policy within the organization. The impact of employees concerned about a policy depends on the organization. Much lends itself to the leaders and the organizational culture in how employees concerns are handled.
Management should not resist the formation of unions. They may have their own opinions about unions, but those opinions should be kept to themselves. Mangers should not try and shape employees opinions concerning unions. It is best to be impartial. The advantages for the company that has unions is that the company would work with the unions to make decisions regarding wages and fridge benefits, in some ways if employees are unhappy with the results, they would have to work with their unions and not directly with the organization. The disadvantages of having a union for an organization may be the overall cost it has to pay employees due to the union, which can decrease the overall profit of the company.
