Inaugural address

We have read the inaugural addresses from two U.S. Presidents: Franklin Delano Roosevelt and John F. Kennedy. Each speech, masterful in both words and delivery, made many promises, some of which were even fulfilled. For example, Kennedy promised that by the end of the decade (the 1960’s), America would put an astronaut on the moon, an outlandish statement that was, in fact, fulfilled with the July 1969 moonwalk.

Your assignment for the Term Paper is to choose one inaugural address by a recent president, read it closely and carefully, perhaps even listen to the speech on YouTube, and to analyze whether some of their promises have been carried out. Select an inaugural address from one of the following presidents:

1. Bill Clinton (2 terms, and thus 2 inaugural addresses, just choose 1)
2. George Bush (2 terms, and thus 2 inaugural addresses, just choose 1)
3. Barack Obama (2 terms, and thus 2 inaugural addresses, just choose 1)
4. Donald Trump (1 term, 1 inaugural address)
5. Joe Biden (1 term so far, 1 inaugural address)

This assignment does not ask you to tell whether you liked or respected the president you chose. Your task is more narrow: evaluate whether he carried out any of his promises made in the inaugural address.

Conduct some research and take notes and when you write the essay, make sure to cite the sources that you consulted and used in your Term Paper.
