Observe the infant’s interaction with the care provider. Who initiates the activities?

Do your observation using the guidelines given below.
Note the infant age in weeks and gender. Do not use the infant’s name. Fictitious names may be used. Observe the child for at least one hour when he or she is awake and alert.
Note physical actions that occur during this time. For instance, can the infant lift his or her head and shoulders, roll over, creep on all four, stand holding onto a stable object, stand momentarily alone, or take a step.
Make a note of any sounds or words that the infant makes (e.g. cooing, babbling, repeats “da-da,” “ma-ma,” says one word) and indicate what the sounds suggest about the stage of development.
Observe the infant’s interaction with the care provider. Who initiates the activities? What kinds of interactions take place? How long do they last?
Using Piaget’s cognitive development theory, write a paragraph showing what stage this infant is in and the characteristics associated with the stage. Use explicit examples of the child’s behavior to substantiate your choice of stage and characteristics.
State how the infant relates to others in the class.
