Essay 1: The Hunger Games
After reading The Hunger Games in its entirety, please reflect on the novel in at least 2 pages (12 pt. in a legible font, double-spaced, with 1-inch margins all around and a Works Cited page at the end). You’re welcome to discuss anything you’d like to in regards to the text but in case you need them, here are some questions to possibly think about and address in your paper:
What key themes does The Hunger Games explore through its narrative and characters? How might they reflect our own world and reality?
How does the novel specifically explore survival within an oppressive system and what is the significance of doing so?
How might the age and youth of the novel’s characters affect the reader’s understanding and engagement of their story and the various problems they encounter?
Overall, your paper should critically review and reflection upon the text in some way so try to avoid simply discussing whether or not you “liked it.”
Make sure to pull specific examples from the text to support your ideas and claims by referring to/citing specific poems, lines, pages, etc. You’re also welcome to include any external work that you are consulting in the creation of your paper, just make sure to properly cite them in-text and in the Works Cited section, where you should also make sure to include The Hunger Games.
