What rhetorical techniques and strategies does the rhetorician employ, and to what effect?

Find at least two rhetorical texts by a rhetor of your choice and write a 1100-1300 word essay that responds to the prompt: What makes [your chosen] rhetor notable as a “user” of rhetoric? Your paper should address the following questions: How does this rhetor engage with/attend to the rhetorical situation? You can discuss the situation in terms of purpose, audience, context, exigency or Kairos) What rhetorical techniques and strategies does the rhetorician employ, and to what effect?

The important part here isn’t whether you can identify specific rhetorical “figures” (though, you are welcome to identify them), but rather, that you can identify important parts of a rhetorical text (quotes, passages, uses of repetition, wordplay, etc.) How does the rhetor use Aristotle’s artistic proofs (ethos, pathos, and logos)? You don’t need to identify each and every use of e/p/l that the rhetor uses. Instead, just pick a few interesting and engaging examples to focus on.
