For this assignment you will be asked to give your experience with feasting and the role the feast played in your communities.
Be sure when discussing the social side of the feast, you relate it back to the course material, include an appropriate quote(s). A goal of all assignments is to demonstrate a sincere reading and understanding of the assigned course material, both by discussing the general functions of feasting seen cross culturally but also being able to apply these functions to your own experiences with feasting.
If you do not have any personal experience with feasting or would rather not share, you can use one from a movie or a story – some example of feasting that you have enough information on to fully address the prompt. If you are not using a feast you have participated in, for the “What it meant to you” part of the prompt, address why you selected the particular feast and what you think it may have meant to the participants on a personal level. Also include the full citation for the source of the feast, the movie or book/publication. Do not choose a feast that has been included in the class readings.
Include in text citations for quotes and referenced information in your essay. At the end, list all cited references in alphabetical order, this is usually the first author’s last name.
