As one character is affected by a mental illness, it seems to spread throughout society. Macbeth is a character that largely demonstrates the effects of mental health. Throughout the tragedy, it is prevalent how Macbeth’s issues with mental health inevitably lead to his tragic decline. In Shakespeare’s tragedy Macbeth, Macbeth’s mental deterioration demonstrates the underlying madness that comes with giving into greed and power, encountering a decline in morality, and the effects it has on the people around him.
