Using James Porter’s Intertextuality as your primary source, form a claim and
argument to answer the question, “Is originality still possible, or are we at a point where all we do is borrow from one another?” To supplement your assertion, you must use evidence from the following document: Donald Murray’s “All Writing is Autobiography,” to back up or further explain your claim. NOTE: There is also a potential middle argument to be made.
The thesis for this paper must answer the question: Is originality still possible, why or why not? If yes, to what degree is it still possible? Use your sources to support the answer.
Questions to consider (Note these are not questions that necessarily have to be answered in the paper. They are meant to help you brainstorm):
1. If originality does exist, to what degree is it allowed to flourish?
2. If all we do is borrow from one another, does that mean it is also impossible to be
an individual?
3. Is there an answer that isn’t strictly “yes” or “no” to this topic?
