Clinical Decision Making Using Evidence-Based Practice (EBP): Case Study Presentation
Please follow the below directions:
Your powerpoint should be set up as follows:
1 slide on Mary- Background info
1 slide of your PICO: make sure that you include a specific intervention versus a general intervention (exercise) along with a measurable outcome.
3-4 slides (1 slide for each of your primary 3-4 pieces of high level evidence). This should include the intervention and its impact on the measurable outcome and your rapid critical appraisal of each.
1 slide on clinical expertise with cited evidence.
1 slide on patient preferences with cited evidence.
1 slide on Plan of Evaluation: this should be directly related to your 3-4 pieces of evidence. Include when they state the measurable outcome should be impacted?
Remember to:
State the question in the PICO, PIO, PICOT, or PIOT format based on the evidence, clinical expertise, and patient values/preferences.
Use a Rapid Critical Appraisal Approach:
What is the level of evidence?
Are the study’s findings valid?
What are the results of the study and are they important?
Will the results assist me in caring for my patients?
Address all three elements (evidence, clinical expertise, patient preferences and values) in relation to the case study.

An example of PICO another student used: Does 30 min of pilates exercise 3 days a week reduce AIC levels after 6 months in African American females. Make sure to use a specific intervention instead of a general intervention along with a measurable outcome. ( Please don’t use this example, its just an example).
