Write a research paper that explains what American politics are all about.
Students tend to include a great deal of detail about (for instance) how ethanol fuel is manufactured (in a paper about the Renewable Fuel Standard [RFS]). Such technical matters should not occupy very much of your paper. Also, you are not writing an opinion paper; if you wish to express your views about the topic of your paper, save this for the last page or two.

Remember that you are looking into the politics of the matters at hand. The topics on this list have been chosen with a specific educational purpose in mind – to get you to look into one of many hundreds or even thousands of matters with which the government may be dealing, many of which have not received a great deal of publicity. You should turn up examples of interactions among bureaucratic agencies, pressure groups, and/or committees and subcommittees of Congress, as well as individual members and their staff.

Your task is to describe how the matter at hand is being fought out (or was fought out) within the political system.

Your final paper will be run through the “Turnitin” anti-plagiarism computer program. Be
sure that your paper is in your own words on the whole, although you will want to quote
brefly from your research sources.
