this was the discussion post you will base it on. including the link to the ad.
In the ad, the woman expressed her difficulty in communicating with the gentleman. In response, he presents the switch to the Verizon plan called Total. After that, he playfully breaks into song, presenting a Spanish parody called “Totalmente,” a playful twist on the original “Sauvemente.” In the song, he creatively recaps the various benefits enclosed in this plan, highlighting how their communication would improve once making the switch to this particular service.
In the ad pathos was the rhetorical appeal used. This was shown by using an infamous song that connected very well with the Hispanic culture. Using this song when using the song it brings in excitement when people listen to that song they want to dance. Which gave the ad more attention and focus to what the ad was trying to sell. The target demographic for the advertisement was the Hispanic community, recognized for its cultural trend to integrate the original song into celebrations. This choice effectively captured their attention, including mine as a Hispanic, enticing a sense of excitement as I watched the ad. As a member of the target audience, the use of this cultural song successfully caught my enthusiasm while watching the ad.
The advertisement also incorporated the rhetorical appeal of logos, evident through the presentation of factual information describing the features of the cellphone plan. The inclusion of clear facts about the plan was intended for people who were potentially interested and were looking for a comprehensive understanding of what Verizon offers. The appeal to logos proved effective as it catered to the informational needs of the audience, ensuring that you received any information you may have been looking for.
